The Hellenic Artificial Intelligence Society (EETN), proudly participated in TEDxPatras 2025, one of Greece’s most forward-thinking conferences dedicated to ideas worth spreading. This year's TEDx theme, "Bridges," explored how technology, creativity, and human connection intersect to address the challenges of the future—a theme that resonated deeply with Dimitris’ mission as both an academic and advocate of ethical artificial intelligence.

Representing EETN (Hellenic Artificial Intelligence Society), Dimitris Gkikas, Dimitris Kalles, Vassilies Zafeiropoulos, and Marios Gkikas contributed to the ongoing dialogue about and the societal impact of AI, drawing from his experience in AI governance, digital transformation, and the development of citizen-centric smart cities. In his talk, he focused on how Artificial Intelligence can act as a bridge between innovation and inclusiveness, transforming public services, education, and sustainability efforts when aligned with ethical frameworks and transparent governance.

"AI is not just about algorithms and automation," Gkikas stated. "It’s about building trust, ensuring fairness, and creating bridges between people and technologies that serve them. Through EETN, we’re working to make AI a tool for public good—scientifically robust, socially accountable, and democratically governed."

TEDxPatras 2025 brought together thought leaders, scientists, entrepreneurs, and creatives under a common vision: to catalyze conversations that lead to action. Dimitris’ presence as a representative of EETN underscored the organization’s role in shaping Greece’s AI ecosystem—promoting education, fostering cross-sector collaboration, and influencing policy toward responsible AI development.

His participation aligns with EETN’s broader strategy to increase public awareness, support interdisciplinary research, and expand international collaborations in artificial intelligence. As a digital strategist and academic affiliated with the University of Patras, Dimitris continues to bridge research with real-world applications, especially in fields such as digital marketing, smart tourism, and sustainable blue economy initiatives.
